The House
A quinta that kept its soul.
The house was built in 1891 by a family who grew vines on these slopes, and for a hundred and thirty years it asked very little of the world — sun on stone, the river below, slow afternoons. Our restoration in 2023 kept everything that mattered: the original chestnut beams, the metre-thick granite walls, the worn steps down to the water.
Today Casa Alta has twelve rooms, two hectares of working vines, and a 38-metre pool set into the old stone terrace. Breakfast comes from the quinta’s kitchen until eleven, and the front door opens straight into the vine rows.
